Double murder in Guayaramerín: two gunned-down victims identified
Edgar Justiniano, 31, and Denny Pozo, 35, were shot at close range in the centre of Guayaramerín, Beni, days after the launch of the "Safe Border" plan.

The two victims of the double murder recorded on Monday night in Guayaramerín have been identified, according to El Deber. They are Edgar Justiniano, 31 years old, known as "Denis", and Denny Pozo V., 35 years old, nicknamed "Pitbull".
Both men were struck by a burst of large-calibre bullets at approximately 23:00 hours on Monday 24 August, at the intersection of Federico Román avenue and Cochabamba, just 100 metres from the local police station.
Justiniano and Pozo worked in river transport: they transported passengers and merchandise in small boats between Guayaramerín and Guajará Miriam, in Brazil.
The incident occurred at the same location where days earlier authorities had launched the "Safe Border" plan, an initiative aimed at intensifying controls at the border between Bolivia and Brazil, at which event the president of the Plurinational State, Rodrigo Paz, was present. Despite this, organised crime continued to operate in the area.
The gunshots alerted residents of the sector, who gathered at the scene following the incident. Officers of the Bolivian Police and personnel from the Public Ministry immediately activated plan "Z" to begin investigations into the double homicide, which generated alarm among the population of the border city.
