A man and a woman were taken into custody in Montero while transporting 19 containers of fuel irregularly. The Felcn seized the merchandise and handed over the vehicle occupants to the Public Ministry.
The procedure was carried out within the framework of a routine operation deployed by anti-narcotics officers in that municipality in the Cruz region. When inspecting a truck, the uniformed officers found 730 litres of petrol stored in drums inside the vehicle.
The vehicle occupants were unable to produce documentation accrediting the lawful origin or authorised transport of the product. Given these circumstances, all of the fuel was confiscated.
The detained individuals were placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor's Office, which must resolve their procedural status. To date, the authorities have not disclosed the names of those arrested.
Authorities are also investigating whether the incident forms part of a wider clandestine fuel distribution network in the region, according to reporting by El Deber.
