A 46-year-old woman was killed at her home in the Arenales de Ovejuyo neighbourhood, located in southern La Paz. The aggressor, her own husband, inflicted several stab wounds to her abdomen with a sharp weapon.
The incident occurred in a house on Carmelitas street. Initial police investigation data indicate that the victim suffered between four and five puncture wounds to the abdomen that caused her death.
Following the attack, the man attempted to take his own life by ingesting toxic substances. Officers found him approximately 300 metres from the residence showing signs of poisoning and blood stains. He was taken to a medical facility where he was stabilised.
A neighbour asserted that the deceased suffered constant beatings from her spouse and was in the process of divorce. According to this account, the man received notice of the legal proceedings and, blinded by jealousy, committed the homicide.
One of the couple's daughters stated that her father's unhinged behaviour was due to an unhealthy obsession with his wife.
