Husband stabs partner in Montero; found dead shortly after
A 43-year-old trader who works in public spaces is struggling to recover in a critical care ward following a savage assault by her husband, a man of approximately 70 years of age, in the locality of Montero.
The incident occurred near nine o'clock in the morning on Monday 22 June, in the residential neighbourhood known as La Matrona. According to details provided by the Felcv chief, Colonel Edson Fernández, the man allegedly wielded a knife and inflicted three stab wounds on his partner following a heated discussion of a sentimental nature.
Healthcare personnel transported the injured woman to a local hospital, where it was determined that she had penetrating injuries to the abdominal area and to one of her legs. Given the severity of her condition, she was immediately admitted to an intensive care unit.
The perpetrator fled the scene and remained at large for several hours. He subsequently returned to the family home. Neighbours alerted police, who upon arriving at the residence found that the elderly man no longer showed vital signs.
Police authorities are conducting two separate investigations: the first seeks to establish the details of the attack on the woman, classified as attempted femicide; the second attempts to clarify the causes of death of the alleged perpetrator.
