A driver was intercepted by individuals posing as police officers on a rural road between Confital and Lacuyo. They bound him and abandoned him before fleeing with the Volvo lorry.

Haulier bound and robbed of his Volvo lorry in Cochabamba

A haulier from Cochabamba reported the theft of his white Volvo lorry, registration plate 1600-PPL, after being intercepted by individuals who identified themselves as police officers, according to El Deber.

The incident is believed to have occurred at approximately 19:00 on Monday 31 August, on a rural road between the localities of Confital and Lacuyo. The complainant, José Antonio Morales Arroyo, arrived at a checkpoint at around 22:00 with plastic cable ties on his hands.

Morales stated that the individuals forced him to exit the vehicle after presenting themselves as police officers. He was detained and subsequently abandoned at the location, whilst the suspected offenders made off with the vehicle.

The lorry was transporting ammonia destined for Oruro at the time of the theft. Morales also requested that the authorities help locate the people who were accompanying him, whose whereabouts are unknown.

The case was reported to the appropriate authorities for investigation.
