Beni Public Prosecutor's Office investigates Cerimedo for protection of drug flights in Santa Ana

The departmental public prosecutor of Beni, Alexander Mendoza, confirmed an open case against Fernando Cerimedo, former presidential adviser, for alleged protection of irregular flights of controlled substances in the municipality of Santa Ana. According to El Deber, Mendoza indicated that further details of the case will emerge as the investigation progresses.
"It is a certain protection that would be being given in the municipality of Santa Ana, in relation to irregular flights. They would be providing coverage," the prosecutor stated at a press conference. He added that the designation refers to small aircraft "allegedly linked" to trafficking in controlled substances.
Cerimedo has already accumulated three charges in different public prosecutor's offices across the country. In Santa Cruz he faces two proceedings: one for attempted femicide against his partner, Nadia Beller, and another for domestic violence. In La Paz there is an investigation into illicit enrichment with harm to the State, in which prosecutors have already identified four houses and an office of his property, with the possibility of expanding the case to include money laundering.
Mendoza noted that there are persons already investigated for trafficking in controlled substances in the department of Beni. Should Cerimedo's participation be proven, the investigation would be expanded to formally include him.
"We must base ourselves on facts and not on presumptions, on something concrete, and if that is the case we must proceed, because we already have expanded persons; perhaps in this case even up to an indictment and bring him before the judicial authority," the prosecutor clarified.
The authority also recalled the case known as 'narco-parcels', recorded at the end of May this year: from Santa Ana de Yacuma, the sum of Bs 350,000 was sent in a parcel, a fact that involved three police officers and an aviation pilot. This precedent motivated the expansion of the investigation that now points to the former Argentine adviser.
