Man shot four times in Arroyo Concepción: Police link case to micro-trafficking
A 43-year-old Brazilian received four gunshot wounds in the Aparecida neighbourhood of Arroyo Concepción. Police rule out links to the PCC or Comando Vermelho.
Man attacked in street situation on border with Brazil
Police have ruled out that the armed attack recorded in Arroyo Concepción, municipality of Puerto Quijarro, is related to disputes between criminal factions the PCC (Primeiro Comando Capital) and Comando Vermelho, according to information provided by the departmental commander, Colonel David Gómez. This was reported by El Deber.
The victim, a 43-year-old man of Brazilian nationality, received four gunshot wounds on Monday 24 August, at around 8:30, in plain public view in the Aparecida neighbourhood. Following the attack, he was evacuated urgently to a clinic in Corumbá, Brazil, where he is receiving medical attention.
Gómez indicated that initial investigations revealed that the wounded man is a person in a homeless situation known in the sector. According to the commander, the man had been caught on previous occasions committing thefts of gas canisters and minor offences, and also maintained links with local micro-trafficking.
Residents of the Aparecida neighbourhood heard the gunshots, came out of their houses and found the man lying in the street. Several bullet casings were left at the scene of the attack. Police deployed personnel to the area and carried out raids in search of those responsible.
"This case would be related to micro-trafficking, but we are investigating and carrying out camera monitoring to find those responsible and bring them before the competent authorities," declared Colonel Gómez.
To date, the identity of those who shot the man and left him severely wounded in a public area remains unknown. The investigation is ongoing.
