Thirty years in prison for eleven stab wounds to friend in Santa Cruz

José Valentín Saucedo Vargas, 61, has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for the murder of his friend Raymundo Hanco Carrasco, 46, according to El Deber. The condemned man will serve his sentence at Palmasola prison.

The crime occurred on a property located in the community of Jorochito, municipality of El Torno, in the department of Santa Cruz. The victim's remains were found at the location without the identity of the perpetrator initially being known.

Police and the prosecutor's office conducted investigations until identifying the suspect on Wednesday. The authorities summoned Saucedo Vargas to make a statement at police headquarters, where he confessed to committing the homicide.

The condemned man stated that the events unfolded amid the consumption of alcoholic beverages. Following a dispute with Hanco Carrasco, he took a knife and stabbed him. Authorities confirmed that the victim received at least 11 stab wounds.

After clarifying the case, the murderer not only ratified his confession but also agreed to submit to an abbreviated trial process, which resulted in the sentence of three decades of imprisonment.
