A shooting attack on a house in the San Pedro neighbourhood left Hernán R.P. dead and Yerco Z. admitted to intensive care. Pando authorities are investigating the case and holding one suspect in judicial custody.

The night of 11 July ended in tragedy for a family in the San Pedro neighbourhood in Cobija. A 24-year-old man was killed inside his own home by an attacker who shot him multiple times. A companion was seriously wounded and is fighting for his life in a hospital.
Hernán R.P. was at his residence with other people when, around 21:30, an individual burst into the place and fired several gunshots at him. The young man died on the spot. In the midst of the shooting, Yerco Z. was also hit by the bullets. He was urgently evacuated to a local hospital, where he remains in intensive care due to the severity of his wounds.
The Pando Department Public Prosecutor's Office opened an investigation on its own motion for homicide. Freddy Durán Montero, head of that office, explained that prosecutors are gathering statements from people close to the victim in order to reconstruct what happened. He also confirmed that one person was captured and handed over to the justice system to determine his responsibility.
José Luis Quispe, the officer in charge of the case, specified that the investigation is aimed at determining who physically carried out the crime and whether there were accomplices. So far, the motive remains unclear.
The defendant has already appeared before a court, which must shortly rule whether to send him to preventive detention or order another precautionary measure. The Public Ministry is not ruling out any hypothesis whilst proceeding with the collection of evidence in the capital of the Amazonian department.
