A man originally from Colombia was transferred to San Pedro penitentiary in La Paz after a judge decided to revoke his home detention. The foreigner had been arrested during the prolonged days of paralysis that lasted 53 days in the seat of government.
According to a report by eju.tv, the judicial ruling was based on the fact that the accused did not possess a fixed residence in national territory. In contrast, the other seven detainees along with him managed to retain home detention because they proved stable residence.
The Public Prosecutor's Office is investigating him for instigating third parties to commit unlawful acts publicly. A spokesperson for the uniformed service indicated that the case remains open and that various proceedings are being carried out to reconstruct the chain of events: "We continue to establish traceability and all corresponding investigative procedures," he stated.
At the time of his arrest, the suspect exercised his right not to make a statement. He refused to explain what he was doing in Bolivia or to detail his possible role in the demonstrations. Investigators are now seeking to clarify his degree of involvement with the disturbances.
