Justice rejects Cerimedo's freedom bid and orders his transfer to Chonchocoro

The freedom bid presented by the defence of Argentine political adviser Fernando Cerimedo was rejected on Friday by the Bolivian judiciary, according to El Deber. The defendant will continue in preventive detention and will be transferred to Chonchocoro prison in La Paz.
At a hearing held the same day, Cerimedo's lawyers filed the freedom bid on his behalf, but the court upheld his detention upon concluding the session. The defence also failed to prevent the transfer to the La Paz penitentiary.
Cerimedo faces two preventive detention orders. The first is linked to an alleged attempted feminicide in the context of the armed attack suffered by his ex-partner, Nadia Beller. The second case is being investigated in La Paz for money laundering with detriment to the State.
His lawyers argue that the defendant's life is in danger and for this reason insisted that he remain in Santa Cruz. Cerimedo himself drafted a handwritten letter in which he alleges his innocence and denies any involvement in the attack against Beller.
In the same letter, he stated that his life is at risk and held the lawyer of his ex-partner, Jerjes Justiniano, as well as the authorities in charge of the investigation, responsible should anything happen to him.
