High-Impact Plan in Santa Cruz: 60 vehicles and helicopters deployed by Police
The Bolivian Police activated the High-Impact Plan in Santa Cruz on Friday with over 60 motorised units and two helicopters to reinforce security in high-risk zones.
Massive police operation covers Plan Tres Mil, Los Lotes and Santa Cruz city centre
The Bolivian Police launched the High-Impact Plan in Santa Cruz on Friday, according to El Deber, mobilising more than 40 four-wheel vehicles, over 20 motorcycles and two helicopters for aerial patrol in sectors considered to have the highest crime risk in the capital city of Santa Cruz.
The operation was activated from Parque Urbano. The general commander of the Bolivian Police, Javier Álvarez Arizmendi, supervised the start of the actions alongside the departmental commander of Santa Cruz, David Gómez.
"We are deploying this high-impact service that allows us to generate greater police presence in different strategic zones, in accordance with crime georreferencing," said Álvarez.
The police chief explained that the deployment responds to a diagnosis drawn up during his visit to Santa Cruz and aims to implement new focused patrol models. "We are using absolutely all available logistics," he asserted.
Among the prioritised sectors are Plan Tres Mil, the Los Lotes zone and the central area of Santa Cruz, where specialised units were deployed. The strategy contemplates sustained presence in those zones, identified through crime georreferencing, in order to improve police prevention and response capacity. The operation extended into the early hours of the morning.
Progress in the "El Hormiga" murder case in Urubó
During the deployment, Álvarez was asked about the investigation into the murder of José Luis Bravo Moreno, known as "El Hormiga", which occurred in the Urubó zone.
The general commander assured that specialised units have recorded progress in the investigation and anticipated that information will shortly be forthcoming regarding the identification of possible perpetrators. "We have made important progress. Our specialised units and our Bolivian Police have already begun the corresponding investigations and we have substantial progress," he affirmed.
Álvarez avoided providing further details so as not to compromise the course of the investigation, but noted that in the coming hours results will be disclosed related to the identification of "one or several" of the perpetrators of the crime.
The units deployed in Santa Cruz meanwhile continue with the High-Impact Plan, which seeks to increase surveillance in prioritised sectors and reinforce police presence both on the ground and from the air.
