Police officer beaten on La Paz cable car transferred to Argentina for vision injuries

The police junior officer who was beaten by a mob of protesters on the blue cable car in La Paz was transferred to Argentina to receive specialised medical attention for the injuries sustained to his vision, reported unitel.bo on Monday.
"Today, the colleague who had a vision problem has travelled to the Argentine Republic for more specialised treatment," said the general commander of the Police, Mirko Sokol, to the media.
The incident occurred on 18 May, during clashes between police and protesters in the city of La Paz. Images circulated on social media show how a group of demonstrators removed the officer from the cable car facilities and beat him with punches and kicks until he was left unconscious on the ground.
The following day, 19 May, Sokol had already warned about the severity of the case. "It is a junior officer who is undergoing surgical intervention. There is a high probability that he will lose vision in one of his eyes," said the police chief at that time.
Sokol also specified the overall balance of police officers affected during the days of clashes: more than 25 were injured, of whom the majority are already recovering. However, four remain in serious condition and continue to receive medical attention.
"We do not have deaths to mourn, but we do have more than 25 injured; the majority are already recovered, but four are in serious condition," added the commander.
