A judge ordered the preventive detention of the executive of the European company that supplied the banknotes being transported in the Hercules aircraft that crashed in February, with more than 20 deaths.

A court decided to imprison the director of the company that manufactured the cash being carried by the aircraft that crashed in February last. The man will remain confined for six months in the San Pedro de La Paz penitentiary centre whilst the investigation continues.
Weymar Molina, head of the prosecution, noted that the restrictive ruling was issued on Sunday at a control hearing. The defendant must answer because, apparently, the firm did not design the appropriate safeguards nor the procedures to secure the valuable cargo destined for the country's currency-issuing entity.
The tragedy occurred on 27 February 2026, when the Hercules crashed at the La Paz air terminal. The impact caused the death of at least twenty people.
The company involved in supplying the banknotes is of Maltese origin and operates under the business name Crane Currency Malta Limited.
