Seven detained and 38 kilograms of cocaine seized in five operations in El Alto

The Departmental Directorate of the Special Force Against Drug Trafficking (FELCN) of La Paz executed five operations in the city of El Alto and on key interprovincial routes, resulting in seven people arrested and more than 38 kilograms of controlled substances seized, according to reduno.com.bo.
Colonel Miguel Chávez, departmental director of FELCN La Paz, stated that the interventions generated a total economic impact of 74,113 US dollars to the criminal organisations involved.
High-purity cocaine and chemical precursors
Among the materials seized were 38 kilograms and 750 grams of high-purity cocaine hydrochloride, as well as 225 kilograms of sodium bicarbonate, an ingredient used as a precursor in the purification of narcotics. Agents also confiscated four mobile phones during the proceedings.
"We have been conducting different operations here in the city of El Alto and especially on the roads of our city. As a result of these five operations, we have the arrest of seven people and the seizure of four mobile phones, managing to neutralise the transport of these substances," said Colonel Chávez.
Critical routes under control
The operations concentrated on the exit and entry routes to El Alto, identified by FELCN as corridors used by transporters to evade border and interdepartmental controls.
The seven individuals involved were turned over to the Public Ministry along with the seized mobile phones. These devices will be subjected to residue analysis testing and call records analysis in order to establish the links between the detainees and determine the final destination of the intercepted shipments.
