Three dead in San Ramón following hitmen attack during anniversary festivities
Three people died on the evening of Monday, 31 August in San Ramón, department of Beni, after a group of hitmen attacked a couple with gunfire and, as they fled, struck a street vendor. El Deber reported this, citing the departmental prosecutor of Beni, Alexander Mendoza.
The attack occurred around 21:45, when residents of the municipality were participating in activities marking San Ramón's anniversary month. According to Mendoza, two vehicles were involved in the incident: one was transporting the hitmen and the other was carrying the two direct victims, a man and a woman.
"The hitmen collide with the vehicle where the couple was, then three people get out and fire different shots from firearms, whilst the driver waits in the vehicle," explained the prosecutor. After executing the couple, the assailants attempted to flee and collided with a sales stand, running down the vendor, who died as a result of the serious injuries she sustained.
The family members of the murdered couple opposed the mandatory autopsy, according to Mendoza. Neither relatives nor neighbours in San Ramón have cooperated with information about the incident thus far.
Authorities suspect that the four hitmen who participated in the attack would be of Brazilian nationality, although investigations are awaited to confirm this detail.
