Vice Minister for Indigenous Justice summoned to testify in Cerimedo case on illicit enrichment

Bolivian vice minister summoned by anti-corruption prosecutors
The Specialised Anti-Corruption and Illicit Proceeds Laundering Prosecutor's Office has summoned Jorge Franz García Pinto, Vice Minister for Indigenous, Original and Peasant Justice and Coordination with Social Movements and Civil Society, to testify, according to El Deber. The summons is issued as part of an investigation involving Argentine political strategist Fernando Cerimedo.
García Pinto is required to appear on Monday 7 September at 12:00 at office 409 in the building of the La Paz Departmental Prosecutor's Office. The summons was issued on 3 September 2026.
The case, registered under number 201102012605615, investigates the offence of illicit enrichment of individuals with detriment to the State, as classified in article 28 of Law No. 004 on the Fight Against Corruption, Illicit Enrichment and Investigation of Fortunes Marcelo Quiroga Santa Cruz. Fernando Gabriel Cerimedo is listed as a person reported ex officio in the proceedings, along with others.
The summons document warns that if García Pinto fails to appear, an arrest warrant will be issued against him.
At the close of El Deber's edition, the Vice Ministry had not issued an official statement regarding the summons. García Pinto took office in April of this year and was sworn in by the then Minister of the Presidency, José Luis Lupo Flores.
The prosecutors in charge of the commission estimate that the vice minister's testimony could provide key elements to advance the investigation being conducted by the Public Prosecutor's Office.
