The prosecutor-general of Rio filed charges against ten individuals, including a state deputy, for alleged criminal organisation aimed at diverting public funds via fraudulent tenders.

Ten individuals, including a representative of the Rio legislature with procedural immunity, were formally accused by the Public Ministry of Rio de Janeiro of acting together to divert money from public administration. The accusations encompass criminal association, tender manipulation, use of false information in official documents and money laundering.
The state court, responding to the prosecution's request, ordered search and seizure operations at addresses connected to the suspects on the morning of Thursday (16). There is also an intention to recover the funds diverted from government coffers.
The office of deputy Rafael Nobre at the Legislative Assembly of Rio de Janeiro (Alerj) was among the spaces searched. The institution itself confirmed the operation took place.
In a statement, the Alerj stated that it follows principles of integrity and seriousness: "The House reaffirms its commitment to transparency and places itself at the disposal to provide all necessary cooperation for the advancement of investigations".
The accusation maintains that the defendants created a mechanism to benefit companies previously chosen in disputes for state services, channelling funds through shell companies. The charges were drawn up by the head of MPRJ, Antônio José Campos Moreira.
