Woman wanted for seven years arrested after reporting domestic violence in Mogi das Cruzes
A 38-year-old woman who had an outstanding arrest warrant since 2018 was detained in Mogi das Cruzes, in the metropolitan region of São Paulo, after contacting the Military Police to report an assault by her own partner. The incident was reported by the portal Midiamax.
On the evening of last Friday (10), the victim called the Military Police to report that she had been attacked by her partner in the Parque São Martinho neighbourhood. When officers arrived at the scene, the man managed to escape to a vegetated area. A police cordon was set up with ground searches and aerial support from the Águia helicopter, but the suspect was not located.
During the filing of the report, officers consulted the systems and discovered that the complainant herself had an arrest warrant issued by the court in Sergipe. The woman was then taken to the Judicial Police in Mogi das Cruzes.
According to the portal, she and her partner are defendants in a case that has been pending since 2018 for simple homicide, aggravated homicide and attempted homicide in the state of Sergipe. The legal action is still ongoing.
The original Midiamax text also provided information about support services for women experiencing violence, such as the Women's Care Hotline (180), which operates 24 hours a day, and the Military Police emergency service (190).
