Agents of the Federal Police began, on Wednesday (8/7), another phase of an investigation aimed at suppressing sexual crimes against children and adolescents committed in the virtual environment. The action was launched in São José do Rio Preto, a city located in the interior of the state of São Paulo.
During the execution of a warrant issued by the state Judiciary, police officers seized electronic devices that may serve as evidence in the inquiry records. Among the items seized were computers, mobile phones and data storage media.
The corporation reiterated the need for family members and guardians to closely monitor young people's web browsing. According to guidance provided, transparent conversations about the dangers of the digital world and encouragement to report suspicious occurrences are fundamental protection tools.
The operation is part of a continuous effort by Brazilian authorities to combat this type of crime. It is worth noting that, although the Statute of the Child and Adolescent still uses the word "pornography", international bodies have adopted terminologies such as "sexual abuse" and "sexual violence" to describe these acts, considering that such expressions better capture the severity of the problem.
