Federal operation arrests 76 people and causes R$ 45.7 million in losses to criminal factions

The Operation Brasil Contra o Crime Organizado recorded 76 arrests and seizures between 17 and 22 May in border and divisional regions of the country, with estimated losses of R$ 45.7 million to criminal factions. The summary was released on Friday (22) by the Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP), as reported by gov.br.
The actions were coordinated by the Directorate of Integrated Operations and Intelligence (Diopi), through the General Coordination of Borders and the Amazon (CGFRON), and encompassed all 27 federal units — a significant expansion compared to 2025, when activities were limited to seven states.
Of the 76 detentions, 51 were arrests in flagrante delicto, 19 were judicial warrant executions and 6 were apprehensions of adolescents. Security forces also executed 8 search and seizure warrants, initiated 12 inquiries, concluded 2 and conducted 32 operations with intelligence results. In total, 70 blockades, barriers and police checkpoints were set up.
Among the materials collected during the period, the following stand out:
- 8.3 tonnes of cannabis
- More than 613 kg of cocaine and cocaine paste
- 373 kg of skunk
- 2 machine guns, 3 rifles, 14 shotguns, 4 pistols and 3 revolvers
- More than 89,000 rounds of ammunition
- Smuggled cigarettes, illegal pesticides and vehicles used by criminal organisations
The cumulative impact since the operation began on 11 May shows losses exceeding R$ 213 million to organised crime. Over the total period, 242 arrests were recorded, more than 60 tonnes of drugs were seized and large-calibre weapons — including rifles and machine guns — were removed from circulation.
Anchieta Nery, director of Integrated Operations and Intelligence at Senasp, highlighted the scope of the initiative. "The expansion of the operation to all federal units represents an important advance in the integration of public security forces. We are expanding intelligence sharing, strengthening action at borders and directly striking at the financial and logistical structure of criminal factions across the entire national territory," Nery stated.
In addition to repressive actions, teams approached more than 2,400 people and more than a thousand vehicles during the week, conducting inspections and preventive visits in strategic border areas. The operation is part of the Federal Government's strategy to combat cross-border crimes and reduce the financial capacity of criminal factions.
