Federal Highway Police officers discovered a large drug shipment in a heavy vehicle during an inspection in the early hours of Wednesday (8) in the Ilha Solteira area in western São Paulo. Altogether, 440 kilogrammes of cocaine were removed from a concealed compartment adapted inside the tanker truck.
The stop began in Três Lagoas, on the Mato Grosso do Sul side of the border. The driver, upon noticing the presence of the police team, abandoned the truck and ran across the dam in an attempt to evade the officers. Following a pursuit, the police managed to capture him near recreational areas on the banks of the Paraná river.
The driver was detained and taken into custody. The drug shipment was collected and seized by the authorities. The incident was registered by the Federal Highway Police and remains under investigation.
