Federal Police agents conducted a series of inspections at Guarulhos International Airport in the São Paulo metropolitan region between 13 and 14 July. The operations resulted in the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of five kilograms of cocaine from circulation.

The first person arrested was a passenger intending to travel to destinations outside the country. During the search, officers found drugs hidden in her luggage. The woman was taken to Federal Court, where she may be prosecuted for involvement in international illicit drug trafficking.

Another traveller, also bound for abroad, was caught attempting to transport the substance inside her body in small capsules. For health reasons, she was transferred to a hospital unit, where doctors are monitoring the expulsion of the packages. Custody was placed under the care of the São Paulo Penal Police.

The third person arrested is a man of foreign origin. He was stopped at the boarding control for a domestic flight and was detained preventively on suspicion of being part of an organisation dedicated to drug trafficking.
