Extradition to Brazil of Uruguayan linked to First Command of the Border

Interpol Uruguay completed the extradition to Brazil on Friday of a 39-year-old Uruguayan citizen sought for international drug trafficking and organised crime offences, teledoce.com reported.

The man had a red notice from Interpol and had multiple criminal records in Uruguay for drug trafficking, weapons trafficking and theft.

According to an investigation by Brazilian authorities, between December 2017 and July 2018 the extradited man allegedly maintained a weapons and drug storage facility in Chuy, a department in Rocha, for the benefit of a criminal organisation of which he was a member. In addition, he allegedly acted on several occasions as a "mule", transporting narcotics, and collaborated in attacks against a rival gang engaged in drug trafficking in the border zone.

The Ministry of the Interior noted that, according to Brazilian police sources, the man is a member of the First Command of the Border (PCF), a criminal organisation active in the border region.

At the time the extradition was completed, the citizen was serving a sentence in Uruguay for drug trafficking.
