Halloween night in Zurich: burglaries, robbery and three arrests

On Halloween night, Zurich city police arrested three suspected perpetrators following burglaries and a robbery in various districts of the city, as reported by 20 Minuten.

The first incident occurred shortly before 23:00 on Germaniastrasse in district 6. A flat tenant returned home and surprised three unknown men who had already searched his flat and stowed stolen goods in a bag. The three men immediately fled. The tenant managed to pursue and hold one of the fleeing men – a 17-year-old Swiss national – until police arrived. The other two perpetrators escaped.

Shortly afterwards, a witness reported a robbery on Falkenstrasse in district 1. An unknown perpetrator cycled past a woman and snatched her handbag from her. When her companion attempted to stop the robber, he was pushed to the ground and sustained minor injuries. Passersby who had observed the incident took up the pursuit and held the man until police arrived. The responding officers arrested the 34-year-old German man.

The third case occurred shortly before 01:00 in district 8. A vehicle owner surprised an unknown man who had gained unauthorised access to his car and searched it. He held the perpetrator at the scene until police arrived and arrested the 35-year-old Algerian.

All three arrested individuals were taken to a police station for further investigation.
