Chilean fugitive wanted by Interpol for homicide in Cerro Navia arrested in Buenos Aires

A 19-year-old Chilean citizen accused of the homicide of a teenager in Santiago was identified in Buenos Aires, where he had remained detained under a false identity since 21 May. According to a police report accessed by noticiasargentinas.com, it is Demis Isac Martínez Palma, alias "Nemo", charged with the murder of Javier Olivares Simao, 17 years old, which occurred on 22 December 2025 in the municipality of Cerro Navia, in the north-west of Santiago de Chile.
Martínez Palma had an Interpol red notice and previous records for theft and assault. Following the crime, he fled to Argentina, as established by the Police Investigation Service (PDI) of Chile.
Arrested in stolen vehicle with forged documentation
The accused was apprehended on 21 May by officers of the Digital Ring Division of the Buenos Aires City Police, along with two other people. They were driving a Peugeot 208 with altered registration and with a seizure order for aggravated theft, requested on 9 of that month by the Avellaneda 5th Police Station of Wilde, of the Buenos Aires provincial police.
At the time of arrest, Martínez Palma identified himself as Lisandro Keneth Sagredo Tauler. He carried with him a Chilean identity document under that false name, a forged driving licence, and had declared an address in Ciudadela, municipality of Tres de Febrero, in the Buenos Aires conurbation.
The search: photographs and fingerprint analysis
Within the framework of international cooperation between Chile and Argentina, the PDI consulted the Buenos Aires City Police as to whether the suspect was among the detained persons. An initial review by name yielded no results, so the search was expanded through the analysis of photographs and other identification elements.
The investigation made it possible to establish that the accused matched the person detained under the false identity. Final confirmation was obtained through a fingerprint analysis carried out using records provided by Chilean authorities.
The crime: a Christmas fair in Cerro Navia
According to Chilean investigation, the homicide occurred when Javier Olivares Simao attended a Christmas fair in Cerro Navia with an uncle and a cousin to buy gifts. In that context, a criminal snatched a chain from his neck and fled. The teenager pursued him until he encountered Martínez Palma, who allegedly shot him and killed him.
Security cameras in the area recorded the pursuit and the weapon being handled by one of those involved. Those images were subsequently released by several Chilean television channels.
Formal extradition request is awaited
Following confirmation of Martínez Palma's identity, Argentine authorities are awaiting the Chilean embassy to formalise the extradition request. Once that procedure is completed, the accused could be transferred to Chile to be placed at the disposal of that country's courts.
