Police operations in Bogotá result in 52 detainees and seizures across eight districts

Bogotá Police arrested 52 people during the past week in 35 search and raid operations carried out across eight districts of the capital, according to eltiempo.com. The operations covered Ciudad Bolívar, Fontibón, Santa Fe, Kennedy, Usaquén, Los Mártires, San Cristóbal and Barrios Unidos.

The detainees face charges of homicide, extortion, arms trafficking, drug trafficking and fraud. In the course of the operations, 28 firearms, 17 kilograms of drugs and more than 45 million pesos in cash were seized.

Among the most significant arrests is that of an individual known by the alias 'Marciano', alleged to be the new leader of micro-trafficking in the Kennedy district. His detention came following the dismantling of the criminal group known as 'La Firma', which he allegedly took control of.
