Suspect in Jaime Moreno case believed to be in Venezuela; Colombian justice advances in her absence
The alleged organiser of student Jaime Moreno's murder is reported to have fled to Venezuela. The family's lawyer states that the judicial process can continue without her appearance.

Fugitive in Jaime Moreno case believed to be in Venezuela according to family's lawyer
Kledimar Paola Fernández Ulvara, identified as the alleged organiser of the deadly assault against student Jaime Esteban Moreno that occurred on 31 October 2025 in the Chapinero neighbourhood of Bogotá, is believed to currently be in Venezuela, according to criminal lawyer Camilo Rincón, representative of the Moreno family, who told infobae.com.
"What I can say is that there is information, there is monitoring and that apparently today she is in Venezuela," Rincón declared to the radio station La Kalle.
Judicial process advances despite the absence of the accused
The family's legal team has not made the progress of the case dependent on Fernández Ulvara's appearance. Rincón explained that the Public Prosecutor's Office can link her to the case as an absent person, a legal figure that allows the proceedings to continue without the investigated party presenting themselves to the authorities.
"We have already held hearings to link her as an absent person. We have held some hearings and yes, we are making progress on that," the lawyer stated.
The defence strategy also contemplates first closing the case against two other people already linked to the facts before concentrating efforts on the Fernández Ulvara case. "Sometimes it is more strategic to finish the case of these two people and then begin Paola Fernández's case," Rincón explained to La Kalle.
The lawyer justified that sequence for reasons of procedural management. "Whoever tries to do too much accomplishes little, and by being caught up in so many things, the chances of error are many," he said.
Regarding the prospect that the woman will never present herself voluntarily, Rincón was categorical: "If she is not going to appear, then sooner or later, of course, she will have to assume her responsibility." The criminal lawyer added that he maintains confidence in the final outcome of the case: "I have a lot of confidence that this will not be left as it is."
The victim's father demands that she answer to justice
Jaime Alberto Moreno, father of the systems engineering student who was murdered, intervened in a judicial special report and directed his complaint directly at the 24-year-old woman. His sole demand, he said, is that she present herself to the authorities.
"The only conversation I want to have and the only person I want to see face to face is Kledimar Paola Fernández Ulvara," he declared to La Kalle.
Moreno questioned the attitude of the accused woman in remaining beyond the reach of justice. "The woman who is a fugitive, well with her action of not responding and not presenting herself to the authorities is already showing the type of behaviour and person that she is," he stated.
The victim's father also expressed his desire that the investigated woman turn herself in voluntarily. "She was the organiser of all of this and what we hope is that someday, in her presence or in her absence, earthly justice will be served," he added.
Background to the case
Jaime Esteban Moreno was beaten on 31 October 2025 in Chapinero, Bogotá. The incident generated widespread public attention in Colombia, in part because security cameras recorded a woman dressed in a blue costume in the vicinity of where the assault occurred, an image that the authorities circulated to identify possible suspects.
Fernández Ulvara was identified as the alleged organiser of the action that resulted in the student's death. Since then she has not appeared before Colombian authorities, and the evidence gathered by the family's legal team suggests that she may have crossed the border into Venezuela.
The General Public Prosecutor's Office is handling the case, and the Moreno family's legal team is working for the case to advance in parallel: on the one hand, by closing the proceedings against the two defendants already linked to the case; on the other, by consolidating Fernández Ulvara's linking as an absent person so that the case is not indefinitely suspended awaiting her surrender or capture.
