Suspended sentences for accomplices in shooting attack on Hells Angel in Hamburg
Hamburg regional court convicted two women of aiding and abetting attempted murder of a biker gang boss on St. Pauli. The victim has been paralysed from the neck down since 2018.
Two women convicted after biker attack on St. Pauli
Nearly seven years after a life-threatening shooting attack on a Hells Angel in Hamburg, the regional court has convicted two women of aiding and abetting attempted murder. A third defendant was acquitted, as welt.de reports. The verdict is not yet legally binding.
The 57-year-old lead defendant received two years imprisonment on probation, her 37-year-old daughter one year on probation – both for aiding and abetting. Together they must pay the victim at least €250,000 in compensation. The third defendant, a 36-year-old daughter of the 57-year-old, was acquitted because the court could not establish the contents of a decisive telephone call.
"The accused women were not present at the scene of the crime," the presiding judge justified the relatively lenient sentences. According to the court's assessment, the two convicted women had helped search for the victim beforehand.
The incident occurred during the night of 27 August 2018. A car stopped next to the biker's Bentley whilst he was waiting at a traffic light. The passenger opened fire and injured the then 38-year-old Hells Angel with at least seven shots in a life-threatening manner. He has been paralysed from the neck down since then.
The person who commissioned the attack was already sentenced to life imprisonment with legal finality in 2020. The shooter, the father and the then girlfriend of the person who commissioned the attack, who had driven the getaway car, also received lengthy prison sentences. The background to the crime was a personal feud between members of the Mongols biker group, which was dissolved in 2016, and the Hells Angels.
The proceedings against the three women began in April 2024. The public prosecutor had demanded five years and ten months imprisonment for the mother, three years and ten months for the older daughter, and two years and four months for the younger daughter. The defence pleaded for acquittal for all defendants.
