The perpetrator refused to vacate his flat and blocked all contact for several hours. Only at around three o'clock in the morning, after prolonged persuasion by negotiators, did the armed man voluntarily leave his refuge. The special forces unit took him into custody without physical altercation.
The competent prosecuting authority is now investigating attempted murder. Furthermore, possible violations of firearms legislation and domestic crimes are being examined. The minors were handed over to the youth welfare office and are in good condition following medical assessment. Whether the detainee will be brought before a judge remains unclear. The causes of his escalation of violence remain unexplained.
