In the Minden-Lübbecke district in North Rhine-Westphalia, a 43-year-old inmate of a psychiatric forensic clinic has gone missing. The man was granted regular leave on Saturday and did not return to the facility in Stemwede.
Local officers have been searching for the escaped inmate since Saturday evening. According to current findings, the wanted man could be in the area around Hagen or in the Ennepe-Ruhr district.
The missing person is a man with a pronounced limp, with tattoos on his right upper arm and back. Investigators appealed to the public not to approach the fugitive independently. Information about his whereabouts can be reported to the emergency number 110.
The police did not disclose why the 43-year-old was being held at the clinic or whether he poses a danger to the public.
In a forensic psychiatric clinic, convicted persons are held who were not fully criminally responsible due to mental illness or addiction problems. The confinement serves both therapeutic purposes and protection of society.
