A young man on a motorcycle led a dramatic chase from a police patrol on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred on the L292 regional road near Isenbüttel in Gifhorn district.
The officers had originally intended to stop the 20-year-old because of his excessively loud exhaust. However, instead of stopping, the motorcyclist accelerated and sped away. During the pursuit, he reached speeds of up to 180 kilometres per hour, according to authorities. At times, police were unable to keep up with the fugitive.
The man also violated overtaking restrictions and overtook several vehicles on the regional road. The chase only ended when oncoming traffic approached and he could no longer pass. When questioned, the young man said he was in a hurry.
