Police warn of theft wave in Munich public swimming pools
The number of thefts in Munich public swimming pools is rising significantly at the beginning of the bathing season. Police registered 26 cases alone at the Westbad by early June and ten further incidents at the Michaelibad. Thieves are focusing on small valuables and cash.
Officers report that the thieves are primarily stealing mobile phones, wallets and other small items. In one particularly serious case, a wallet containing 800 euros in cash disappeared.
Police advise bathers to keep their valuables in sight at all times. Those entering the water should either use lockers or ask nearby people to look after their belongings. In the event of theft, police recommend contacting the bathing or cashier staff immediately or calling the emergency services.
