In Essen, a violent altercation occurred in a tram. A passenger was sprayed with tear gas after he had confronted two teenagers about their noise level.
The incident took place on line 105. The victim was travelling from Heisingen towards the main railway station. In the tram were two teenagers who were talking loudly and playing music. Several fellow passengers asked the two to be quieter. The later victim also asked the teenagers to turn down the volume.
At the "Heißener Straße" stop, the two teenagers got out. Shortly after the doors had closed, one of the two sprayed tear gas into the face of the man still standing at the door. The passenger sustained injuries as a result.
North Rhine-Westphalia police are now searching for the unknown suspect and are appealing for information.
