Stuttgart: Woman's body found in suitcase under bridge – 51-year-old faces court
Employees of the municipal works department in Filderstadt made a gruesome discovery in August 2024. Beneath a bridge near a playground, in a dried-up stream bed, lay a suitcase. Inside was the body of a woman.
The discovery location in the Esslingen district is counted among the most unusual crime scenes in recent German criminal cases. Investigators are treating it as a homicide connected to the drugs scene.
Ten months after the discovery, a 51-year-old man now sits in the dock at Stuttgart Regional Court. He is charged with manslaughter in connection with the drugs scene. According to the results of the investigation, the suspect is believed to have dragged the body of the slain woman through the town in the suitcase before depositing it beneath the bridge.
Further details on the course of the trial and evidence have not yet been made public by the court. The trial is being heard before the criminal chamber of Stuttgart Regional Court.
