German police are investigating the rape of four girls under 14 years old in Halle. Four boys aged 13 to 16 come from Mali and Portugal. The victims were apparently sedated with date-rape drugs.

On Saturday evening, a serious sexual assault occurred in the German city of Halle. Four boys aged 13, 14, 15 and 16 raped four girls who were not yet 14 years old. The information was published by the portal Novinky.cz.
The perpetrators come from Mali and Portugal. According to police spokesperson Alexander Junghans, two injured were taken to hospital in Halle, two others were treated on an outpatient basis.
Initial information indicated that the offence occurred in a residential building in the south of the city. The police denied this, however. They did not release the exact location of the crime due to the young age of the victims.
Investigators believe the girls were sedated with so-called date-rape drugs before the attack. Forensic experts secured samples which are intended to provide evidence of substances that affect consciousness or will.
Three suspects aged 14 to 16 were arrested. The 13-year-old was handed over to his legal representatives. If the public prosecutor's office requests arrest warrants, the three older youths will be brought before the investigating judge on Monday.
Police refused to release further details about the case due to the young age of the perpetrators and victims. It is also unknown how the girls managed to get away from their attackers or who reported the incident.
