Preventive detention for rape and assault against cohabiting partner in Ikast

A 28-year-old man has been sentenced to preventive detention by Herning District Court for rape, assault and indecent assault, according to B.T. The victim is a woman of similar age with whom the man previously lived.

The rape took place in August 2022 at an address in Ikast. According to the charge sheet, the man forced the woman into sexual intercourse and subsequently pressured her to perform oral sex on him. During the assaults, he filmed the events with his mobile telephone.

Approximately six months before this, the man had, according to the charge sheet, pushed the woman so that she struck a bed frame and sustained bruises on her elbow, back and neck.

Specialist prosecutor Pia Koudahl states that the man was found guilty of all three counts. The prosecution sought preventive detention on the basis of a recommendation from the Board of Forensic Medicine, which assessed that preventive detention is necessary to prevent new, similar criminal conduct.

Preventive detention is deprivation of liberty for an indefinite period and is applied against persons regarded as particularly dangerous. The man has previously been convicted of both assault and rape.

The 28-year-old denied guilt and has immediately appealed the sentence with a request for acquittal, or alternatively mitigation.
