Swindlers impersonated bank employees and defrauded four women in a matter of hours
Six elderly women in North Zealand were subjected to contact fraud or attempted contact fraud on Wednesday within just seven hours, according to B.T. on the basis of North Zealand Police's official daily report.
In five of the cases, men called and presented themselves as bank advisers. In the sixth case, the fraudsters claimed to represent an insurance company. The cases spanned from midday to just after 7 p.m. and targeted women in Holte, Birkerød, Hillerød, Gentofte and Kvistgård.
The swindling succeeded four times. Among the most severely affected is an 84-year-old woman from Birkerød, who lost a painting from Skagen, jewellery and a gold lighter – and furthermore had money withdrawn from her account.
The swindlers used the names Adam Hansen, Anders Dahl Rasmussen and Martin Vednæk, according to the police's account of the cases.
Contact fraud occurs daily and throughout the country. North Zealand Police regularly warn citizens against the phenomenon.
