Authorities await clarification following hacker attack on cooling systems
Two Russian hacker groups have claimed responsibility on social media for the cyber attack that struck cooling and freezing systems in European supermarkets. According to B.T., the Danish Agency for Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security emphasises that it is too early to establish whether the two groups have actually played a role.
This emerges from a press release from the agency, which also states that pro-Russian hacker groups regularly claim responsibility for cyber attacks and actively attempt to draw attention to their activities through their communications. According to the agency, the coverage itself can contribute to creating insecurity in society.
Five Danish companies have previously been confirmed as targeted by the attacks on their cooling and freezing systems. In addition, shops in Sweden, Ireland and Belgium, as well as a number of other countries, have also been affected.
