A 15-year-old teenager was shot dead on 20 July in the Esmeralda Libre cooperative, in the Las Malvinas sector, south of Guayaquil, according to teleamazonas.com.
According to the police, several subjects travelling on motorcycles arrived at the intersection of Taisha Street and Alley 46. The attackers were wearing dark clothing and covered their faces with face masks, and opened fire repeatedly against the minor before fleeing in an unknown direction.
Relatives of the victim transported him to a hospital, where doctors confirmed his death shortly after his admission.
Forensics personnel collected 17 spent cartridge cases of 9 millimetre calibre at the scene, which will serve as evidence in the investigation. Police are treating the case as a suspected crime related to criminal organisations.
Residents of the sector indicated that the area where the attack occurred would be under the influence of an organisation known as 'Los Carniceros'.
