Two arrested months after shooting in "La Pradera"
The National Police have arrested two people as alleged perpetrators of several gunshots fired in the "La Pradera" neighbourhood in Alcázar de San Juan (Ciudad Real), according to ondacero.es. The incidents date back to 15 August, when four shots were recorded on Calle Portugal as part of a confrontation between two rival gangs.
According to a police statement, the person who fired the shots was a man who arrived at the scene in a vehicle carrying a shotgun. After firing the shots, he handed the weapon to a woman, who placed it inside one of the homes in the area.
From that point on, officers launched an investigation focused on identifying those responsible and analysing material evidence collected and examined by specialists from the Scientific Police.
Joint police operation in the neighbourhood
To locate and arrest the alleged perpetrators, an operation was deployed in the neighbourhood involving the Operational Response Group of Ciudad Real, the Local Citizen Security Group, the Local Operational Group of Alcázar de San Juan, the Local Scientific Police Group and officers from the Local Police of Alcázar de San Juan.
As a result of the operation, the two people were arrested as alleged perpetrators of the crimes of unlawful possession of weapons and against road safety. After being taken to police facilities and the pertinent proceedings being conducted, both were placed at the disposal of the judicial authorities.
The National Police noted that, due to violent confrontations recorded in the area since July, it has launched a comprehensive security plan in the "La Pradera" neighbourhood with the aim of preventing further incidents of this kind.
