Civil Guard seizes major drugs haul on A-49 near Chucena

Second blow to drug trafficking on the A-49

Agents of the Civil Guard's Rapid Action Group have seized a significant quantity of drugs in a routine check carried out on Wednesday afternoon on the A-49 motorway at the height of Chucena, according to huelva24.com. Officers stopped a high-end black saloon car that was transporting packages of narcotic substances visible through the rear windows of the vehicle. The car was immobilised at the service station in the area.

The intervention resulted in traffic congestion of up to four kilometres in the Seville direction, between kilometres 38 and 42, affecting the municipalities of Hinojos and Villalba del Alcor. Traffic returned to normal after the completion of the operation.

This is the second seizure of significance on this same road in just four days. On 17 October, agents of the RAG had already intercepted a van whose driver attempted to evade a police check by abandoning the motorway. On that occasion, officers seized 200 kilograms of cocaine distributed in one-kilogram packages and detained the driver. That operation remains under investigation by the Organised Crime and Anti-Drugs Team of the Huelva Command.

Both operations reflect the intensity of the control measures deployed by the RAG at the main access and exit points of the province, in particular on the communication axis between Huelva and Seville, which constitutes a critical route for the transfer of large shipments to Portugal. The Rapid Action Group provides continuous support to the Huelva Command through special security operations.

The proceedings for the Chucena seizure have been sent to the competent duty court, pending confirmation of the exact weight of the substance seized and the resolution of the procedural situation of those involved.
