Finnish police are investigating a large-scale case of child sexual abuse, in which a 27-year-old man is suspected of abusing hundreds of children. The man is believed to have contacted children through the Snapchat application and requested naked photographs and videos from them.
The crimes took place between 2019–2022. The number of victims has been stated as 361 children who were aged 9–15 years old at the time of the offences. Thousands of videos and images of unidentified minors were found on the man's mobile telephone. Police seized the device in 2022 during a separate criminal investigation.
The charges concern particularly aggravated child sexual abuse and distribution of child pornography. The man has admitted to some of the offences during the investigation. His trial is scheduled to begin in September.
The prosecutor has decided not to bring charges in three cases.
