Alfa-PVP seizures collapse to one-third – amphetamine halved, cannabis grew
Police enforcement in September confiscated just 111 grammes of "puke", one-third of the amount from the previous year. Cannabis seizures, on the other hand, doubled.
Observations of puke declined sharply – police enforcement reveals shift
According to Ilta-Sanomat, police detected a marked decrease in the use of the drug alfa-PVP, known as "puke", in Finland compared with the previous year. During police enforcement operations conducted from 7–27 September, approximately 111 grammes of puke were confiscated in total – just one-third of the amount from the corresponding period last year.
The enforcement operations were conducted across different parts of Finland in areas where most incidents occur. Police said they had paid particular attention to the number of intoxicating substances and their users, and alfa-PVP and its users were one focus of the examination.
Puke was found practically only in the operational areas of the Helsinki and South-West Finland police departments. The South-West Finland police department covers the regions of Varsinais-Suomi and Satakunta.
"Regarding alfa-PVP, it can be stated that the situation has calmed down considerably compared with a year ago – at least on the basis of this sample. That said, it has also been seized by police from several areas this year from which none was found now," the Police Board stated.
Amphetamine declined, cannabis grew
Confiscated amphetamine also fell by nearly half: this autumn, police obtained just over one kilogramme, whereas last year the figure was nearly two kilogrammes.
Development moved in the opposite direction for cannabis. The confiscated quantity doubled from just over one kilogramme to 2.2 kilogrammes.
Various other drugs were confiscated in amounts of some dozens of grammes. Police obtained 56 grammes of cocaine. Various prescription pills totalled just under 300 items – only one-tenth of the corresponding amount from last year.
