On Thursday, a fire broke out in Säteri in the Suur-Leppävaaraa area of Espoo, consuming an abandoned serviceman's house. The building burned completely.
The rescue service received an alert at around 10.30 in the morning. Ten units were dispatched to the scene and brought the flames under control. In the afternoon, follow-up extinguishing work continued, carried out by local volunteer fire brigades in the area.
Authorities investigated the cause of the fire. No one was injured, and there was no risk of the fire spreading to nearby buildings. Smoke damage has already dispersed.
Police officers found a young man near the scene of the incident, believed to be connected to the fire's ignition. He is currently suspected of arson. As the investigation progresses, the charge classification may be refined further.
