Google News FI — Crime (fi) reported on an alleged attempted robbery that occurred on a commuter train from Tikkurila to Järvenpää last Thursday evening.

According to police information, two suspects boarded the train at Tikkurila and soon afterwards demanded a watch from a male passenger. The pair threatened violence and demanded the victim leave with them at the next station and withdraw money from an ATM.

Shortly before Järvenpää station, other passengers noticed the threat situation, and the victim had an opportunity to escape from the train. The emergency centre received several reports of the situation, and police were alerted to Järvenpää station shortly before 9 p.m.

– The robbery victim had managed to leave the scene before the patrol arrived, but the suspects matching the description were located on the platform area of Järvenpää train station. Both men were taken into police custody for investigation, said Anssi Murto, detective superintendent of East Uusimaa police, in a statement.

Police suspect two men of attempted robbery, one in his thirties and one in his forties. The man in his thirties is also suspected of violently resisting a police officer and disrupting rail transport.
