The Eastern Finland police are continuing the investigation into the hit-and-run that occurred in Kuopio's Petonen district. The incident happened on Saturday afternoon. A 17-year-old local youth riding an electric scooter was struck by a black BMW at a pedestrian crossing.

Police have received numerous observations from members of the public, and the sequence of events has now been clarified. The authorities have expressed thanks for the information that has come to light.

The suspect is a man born in the late 1990s. He has been interviewed. There is no evidence that the parties knew each other beforehand. The victim's injuries are not life-threatening and did not require hospitalisation.

Several criminal suspicions have emerged during the investigation. Police suspect the perpetrator of attempted manslaughter, serious traffic safety endangerment, serious drink-driving, drug offence and serious firearms offence. The weapon is not related to the hit-and-run itself and was not used in connection with the arrest.
