A Finnish court has handed down tough sentences to those involved in a major drugs case. The District Court of Uusimaa in southern Finland sentenced members of a 27-person international drugs gang to prison sentences. The sentences reach up to 13 years. Many of the gang members were Estonian.

According to the prosecution, the men illegally smuggled and distributed over 600 kilogrammes of drugs. This is one of the largest drugs cases in Finland in recent years.

The verdicts were announced on Sunday. The entire process has lasted a long time and required extensive investigative work by authorities in both Finland and Estonia.
