Finnish court sentenced 27-member drug gang to years in prison – several Estonians among them
The District Court of Eastern Uusimaa sentenced an organised drug gang that smuggled hundreds of kilograms of drugs from Estonia and Latvia into Finland. Most of those convicted are from Estonia and Latvia.

The District Court of Eastern Uusimaa handed down a judgment on Thursday in an exceptionally large serious drug crime case. A total of 27 people were convicted, and the majority of them are from Estonia and Latvia, according to Yle.
The organised criminal group smuggled drugs from Estonia and Latvia into Finland from March 2023 to October 2025. The drugs were hidden in cars that were brought into Finland by ferry passengers, and large trucks were also used. The vehicles were taken to a garage in Tuusula, where the cargo was unloaded and distributed onwards, primarily to apartments located in Espoo. Drugs were also hidden in warehouses and in ground caches built in forests in Uusimaa.
Most of the convicted were handed unconditional prison sentences. The longest sentences – 13 years' imprisonment – were given to two men who, according to the judgment, had a central role in the import and distribution of drugs. Some of the defendants were convicted of violent crimes, large-scale money laundering, smuggling and firearm offences.
According to Yle, gang members were punished with violence for breaking the rules. One man was convicted of assault and grievous bodily harm, another of grievous bodily harm. The judgment shows that one man's hand was broken and another was assaulted with a hammer.
According to police investigation, approximately 600 kilograms of various drugs were brought into Finland, of which approximately 200 kilograms was alpha-PVP. Based on street prices, the criminal proceeds amounted to an estimated 40 million euros.
