Testimony of a victim in the Chabane trial

According to Le Figaro, Amine Kessaci, deputy mayor of Marseille and spokesperson for EELV, took the floor on Wednesday before the assizes court of Bouches-du-Rhône to discuss the assassination of his elder brother Brahim Chabane. This eighth day of proceedings sees the victim's brother speak for the first time during the trial.

Sitting on the bench for the civil parties, Kessaci is preparing to give his testimony after six years of waiting. A witness having withdrawn for reasons of health, the court president brought forward his deposition, originally scheduled for the end of the week.

With a measured voice and without yielding to emotion, Kessaci returns to the night of 28 to 29 December 2020 which marked a turning point in his life. His brother Brahim Chabane was shot dead during that night. This event subsequently prompted him to engage publicly against drug trafficking.

Kessaci's testimony comes as the court hears the various protagonists in this criminal case. His controlled expression and the precision of his remarks characterise this major judicial intervention in the trial of the Bouches-du-Rhône assizes.
